TwoSix Moments: The New Facebook Pages Mobile Update

In case you missed it, Facebook just redesigned the layout of business pages on mobile in order to make it easier for customers to interact with local businesses. Visitors to your page now have the ability to accomplish a task like making reservations, booking appointments and viewing menus. This is much more than they were able to do in the past. The spruced-up features allow customers to write reviews just as they would on Yelp and TripAdvisor.  It also makes it easier for users to find recommendations in a specific area of interest.  The update is building the Local feature into the area business pages which allows consumers to conveniently find, recommend, and visit places of interest.

Here are four things that we feel your Travel Brand should know about the update:

  1. It will help connect your visitors to local businesses when they come to your page.
  2. The mobile first approach will assist with recommendations as travelers are visiting your area.
  3. Facebook will encourage you to write a review and recommendation and it must be written in a minimum of 25 characters.
  4. The proximity search will help build event awareness in your area, so be sure you are utilizing the Facebook events feature!

Next steps for your travel brand:

  1. Be sure your current business page is up-to-date with your address, contact information and any other necessary visitor information.
  2. Have a plan!
    1. What will you feature on your page?
    2. Which call to action will you feature at the top of your page?
  1. Connect with local business partners and encourage them to utilize the updated features.
