LinkedIn Posting Tips Directly from LinkedIn

It’s always great to get some information directly from the source! LinkedIn recently pushed a few tips for getting more performance from your posts on their network. To sum it up in their own words, “Consistency is one of the biggest drivers of reach on LinkedIn” and your number one goal needs to be driving a conversation.

LinkedIn even published a checklist for both company pages and personal accounts to use to ensure they are ticking all the boxes, so you know they must be serious about these recommendations! Their checklist features the following recommendations:

  • Publish 2-3 times per week (Consistency really does matter here)
  • Go longer form with posts up to 300 words
  • Frame posts in a question-and-answer format to drive conversations
  • Engage fast, within an hour! Don’t sleep on the engagement happening on your posts (strike while it’s hot)
  • Publish a mix of posts and articles for maximum exposure

Upping your game from an organizational and personal level can also have its benefits when it comes to the LLMs. LinkedIn content is actually the #2 ranked source (only behind Reddit) for many of our favorite AI tools. When you do post, keep in mind that LinkedIn uses the first line of your post to generate the post’s URL. So, make sure that you’re being strategic with the first sentence of your posts. No gentle intros; get right to the point. Think of your first sentence as an SEO optimized nugget to inform the LLMs.

While there may not be anything truly groundbreaking here, it’s always good to know exactly what a network is looking for. Unlike other networks (cough) where we’re constantly guessing and throwing darts in the dark to keep up with their evolving strategies.

Ready for Christmas Ads in September? Pinterest thinks you are.

Yes, it is August. No, it is not too early to be talking about holiday campaigns. At least according to Pinterest, which just dropped a full guide urging brands to get their festive content live as soon as September, citing data showing that is when their users start actively planning holiday activities and purchases.

To be fair, Pinterest is not wrong that earlier campaigns give you more time to test, optimize, and figure out what is actually working before Q4 budgets are fully committed. They also have solid numbers to back it up. According to Pinterest, advertisers using Performance+ with ROAS bidding saw a 28% improvement in return on ad spend during testing. Worth paying attention to, especially if it’s relevant to your DMO and you already have a strong presence on the platform.

Is Pinterest also a platform that benefits most from holiday campaigns starting two months earlier? Yes, obviously. Take their urgency with a grain of salt. But for DMOs with Holiday specific promotional goals or destination differentiators, September is genuinely not a crazy time to start showing up on a platform where people are already in planning mode.

Not sure how to improve your emails? Ask Mailchimp!

Mailchimp has introduced a new feature: Analytics AI. This Beta tool is a conversational assistant built right into your paid Mailchimp account that helps to examine your email data and provide recommendations.

The Analytics AI can analyze campaign performance, audience growth, engagement, email trends, best send times, segments, and more! The AI model provides written feedback on your campaign performance along with custom comparative tables. This can assist in making quick decisions on what subject lines work best, what time to send your next newsletter, how often you should clean your lists, and creating reports with ease. Keep an eye out for these tools as they pop up on more platforms, they’re worth checking out!!

Google Search Console Introduces Platform Properties: See the Performance of your Social Content in Google Search

For years, Google never gave us a real way to see how our content performs on third-party domains and properties we don’t own. That’s finally changing.

Google Search Console just rolled out its Platform Properties feature to all accounts. You can now track how your content performs on third-party platforms in Google Search. Think YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and more.

The feature also comes with a helpful guide for analyzing your social and video content performance. It walks through how your social posts may show up in Google Search features and how to read the new data and reports you’ll have access to. You’ll be able to see the specific queries leading people to your TikTok videos, which content formats pull the most organic traffic (traditional feed posts vs. Reels, for example), or even which YouTube playlists earn the most impressions versus the most clicks from Google Search.

If you haven’t been writing your social content with an SEO mindset, now is the time to start. These reports will help you sharpen that skill.

To get started, log into Google Search Console, click the dropdown at the top left to choose a property, and add a new property. From there, log into any of your listed social channels, and you’re off.

Consider Destination “Walking Tour” Videos

Visitors want to know what destinations are like before they even get there which is why users do their research. It’s why creating content like blogs, itineraries, landing pages, and social media posts are all a huge component of marketing your destination.

Pages showing off live cameras in particular are some of the top visited pages on DMO websites. It doesn’t matter what the camera is pointed at, users are drawn to see what is going on in real time (like Gaylord’s Elk & Snowman live cam footage).

DMOs can take the idea of live video marketing one step further by considering walking tour videos.

Before heading across the pond, my trip planning included the research basics of flights, hotels, and things to do in London. Once finding lodging and transportation that fit my budget, Google Maps street-view was a huge asset, clicking through static images of the streets to see nearby restaurants. But then we thought, what if we turned to YouTube instead? That’s when we found an hour-long video of someone walking through the specific area we were staying in.

We felt like we already knew our way around when we hopped off the train. It wasn’t fully unfamiliar territory because the walking tour showed what everyday life there was like: how to leave the train station, the closest convenience store, the selection of nearby restaurants and pubs, the sounds of the city, etc.

Walking tour videos capture your destination in real time and give it life for those living miles away. No extra narration or music is necessary. Simply plan a route, use a steady camera, and go for a walk to show what your area is all about.
